Springer Spaniels are extremely smart and learn very quickly. The Springer Spaniel is an ideal dog for country or city life. Springers are people pleasers. They love to be around people, and they are energetic, loving companions. Many owner find humor in their energetic and playful animals that bring a smile to their faces. Springers are excellent all around dogs. Good training can bring excellent results in many fields, including agility, tracking, retrieving, obedience, hunting, and field trials. They are great with children and are an excellent pick for families. Children should be supervised with all breeds of dogs.

Springers are quite friendly, and eager to please their owners. Their temperment has been compared to the popular Golden Retriever. They are happy to go home and lie around the house if that is what their families are doing at the time. Human contact helps them to adjust and adapt to different levels of activity. Being a long breeder of a variety of puppies, we can attest to their absolute friendliness.

As a breed, the English Springer Spaniel is a medium sized sporting dog, and can weigh anywhere from 35-55 pounds at adulthood. Springers can remain in good health most of their lives which can span 10 to 14 years. Springers which are field bred have shorter hair and are generally more active than the show type Springers. All Springers have their tails docked shortly after birth, but the length of the tail differs between two “lifestyles.” The tails are docked shorter for Springers who are shown, whereas the working, field-bred Springers have longer tails so as to be an efficient signal for hunting.

A purebred English Springer Spaniel has a coat color of either liver and white or black and white. The tri-color coloration of black, liver, and white, is quite rare and will usually occur when the sire and dam are both tri-color. A white mark down the middle distinguishes them.

Bred to be natural hunter, English Springer Spaniels, have alot of energy so you can expect them to enjoy running aroung, sniffing out “game” and retrieving things for you. Springers love the water and would enjoy spending the entire day outside with their owners as they are not especially affected by weather. Being a very old breed they have been popular dogs for a long, long time. These canines are often regarded as one of the oldest and best established gun dog and hunting breeds.

Hopefully, you can understand the reasons that we believe Springers are a good option for a variety of lifestyles. These loving animals can find a place in anyones heart and home which is something we have experienced.
