What you really need is a pair of hip boots because the great thing about these is they can be rolled down when you are not in the water. They can double as a wader in shallow water and rivers but ideally if there is any depth and current you need hip waders of preferably chest waders. When choosing chest or hip-wader boots select ones that have a loose fit because having waders that are too tight could restrict leg motion and place undue stress on the seams which could leave you wet.

Available in two sizes, a waterproof jacket is another important accessory in the fishing equipment. You would need a long jacket in case you are toiling through the water or want to angle from the boat. When you decide to wear chest waders, wear short jackets instead of long ones, because otherwise the bottom part of long jackets usually get wet. If you wear a jacket with lots of pocket, you find it very useful when you have to put away some lure or other pieces of small fishing equipment. Carry a hat with a visor as staring into the water might hurt your eyes and you need some protection.

Anglers always have more than one tackle box, in fact it is usually three because they like to keep a spare in their car, one with them in the boat and another at their home. This provides protection against any loss or in the event of any mishap. Ideally you need to purchase all your supplies for the season before it begins so you will be ready, even for a spot of night-fishing.
